How Good is Yours?

Heston's Fish Pie at Waitrose takes some beating.

The Lasagne takes the prize; must be the umami paste.

Is your Grub as good as Heston's?

Great tasting meals from Heston/Waitrose.  Worth studying the ingredients given how many cafes offer Mac cheese and Shepherds Pie.
Truffle oil and paste really makes the difference.
Check out the 31 ingredients including brown cap mushrooms, whole grain mustard, sun dried tomato paste, redcurrant jelly and star anise!

Olympic Record

Little Chef (like G4S) should be ashamed at any Olympic connection.  The Popham site (famous for a great reincarnation by Heston Blumenthal) managed to take 42 minutes to produce the above with two items missing and only four other tables of two in the place.
The talented restaurant critic, Giles Coren, in last Saturday's Times Magazine reports on his visit to Little Chef: "The Olympic Breakfast is completely s****.....if you happen to catch sight of the Little Chef in this, our historic Olympic year, my advice is to take him away and hold him till he pees in a test tube.  Then ban him for life".

Meat Fruit

Finally made it to Heston's 'Dinner' restaurant at the Mandarin Oriental hotel - 2.45pm on a Saturday lunch and  packed.  The famous Meat Fruit starter apparently has its origins in the c.13th - 15th century and the leaf isn't edible.  It takes three days to make, cost £14.50 and was quite delicious.
