Dorset Knobs

A.Gold sells British specialities and Dorset Knobs intrigued me.  If you don't know, this is what they are - a sort of hard biscuity mini roll:

Royal Cafe

The Cafe Royal's new Regent Street cafe has some great individual items -a best selling £5 strawberry cheesecake plus their version of apple struzel.
It's not all fancy marble and prices - check out their £1 wattleseed shortbread biscuit wedges.

S'more

Ottolenghi's S'mores - biscuit, marshmallow and chocolate.  The US version of a Wagon Wheel. They are a traditional night-time campfire treat popular in north America consisting of a roasted marshmallow and a layer of chocolate sandwiched between two pieces of graham cracker.

Pop Up at Fortnums

Fortnum & Mason have a pop up British Bakery cafe on their first floor.
Mark Hix's shortbread, garibaldi biscuits and more are on until 10th February.
The Torta Di Ricotta cake with warm chocolate sauce is proving a winner.
It sounds as if a fortnightly trip to Fortnums will be required until April.

Alfajor from Argentina

Delicious cookies from Argentina - filled with dulce de leche milk caramel spread and coated with meringue or chocolate.  Havanna is apparently the leading brand.
Waiting to see who brings them into the UK or makes something similar.  Let me know.

Cafe Moo Moo

Terrific signage at Fishers Farm Park in West Sussex
 Cute biscuits
Refreshing honesty when it comes to the 'instant' coffee cappuccinos in the seasonal kiosks - not to worry, they have quality bean to cup coffee at Cafe Moo Moo.

Billionaires Shortbread

Paul A Young, the chocolate shop, has made the ultimate 'billionaires' shortbread - 70% chocolate topping, sea salted caramel, a light chocolate mousse and chocolate shortbread.  It was good.

Rice Cakes

Another clever transfer from Julian Metcalfe's Itsu operation to mainstream Pret - chocolate covered rice cakes.  Will they follow popcorn and go nationwide?

Biscuits, not Cookies

Another bright idea from Peter Jones' cafe - Nutmeg & Custard Biscuits at £1.95 a pop.  Different, determinedly British and a full price.
